Before you book
Your level on skis and on a snowboard
Complete beginner, beginner, intermediate or advanced: read what you can do on the piste at each level, and pick the description that sounds most like you.
Everyone starts somewhere. Your level isn’t a mark out of ten: we use it to put you with the right instructor and the right group.
On skis
Complete beginner, level 1 of 4
You’ve never had a pair of skis on before — but don’t worry: everyone starts somewhere!
Beginner, level 2 of 4
You’ve got some experience and you can get down relatively easy blue pistes, though maybe with a bit of snowplough here and there. You feel less sure when you pick up speed, or on icy snow.
Intermediate, level 3 of 4
You can get down blue and red pistes with your skis parallel, and you only fall back on the snowplough now and then. Steep, icy slopes still make you uncomfortable, though.
Advanced, level 4 of 4
You’re confident on every kind of piste and you can handle all sorts of snow conditions; you enjoy speed and carving your turns.
On a snowboard
Complete beginner, level 1 of 4
You’ve never tried snowboarding. Start from scratch and explore this exciting sport.
Beginner, level 2 of 4
You’ve been out a few times and you can get down relatively easy blue pistes; you can turn on the gentler slopes, and where it’s steep you come down in falling leaf. Flat sections are a problem sometimes, too…
Intermediate, level 3 of 4
You turn on blue and red pistes, even if you sometimes come down in falling leaf on steep, icy slopes. You’ve also started trying a few tricks, on the piste and in the park, and you occasionally ride switch.
Advanced, level 4 of 4
You feel confident on every kind of piste and in all snow conditions, and you can ride switch well, take jumps and ride off-piste. You’ve got your board under control in any situation.
Why it helps to be honest
Nobody is judging you: we need your real level to set your lesson up properly.
The group is built on level
In group lessons we put together people of the same level: if you over- or underestimate yourself, the group won’t move at your pace.
The lesson is built around you
Your instructor plans the lesson around the level of the people riding with them, and around the conditions of the day.
Clinics and experiences need a base
They ask for an intermediate or advanced level, with one exception: the Starting from zero clinic.
The rules ask for it
Anyone taking a lesson is expected to declare their level honestly and to follow their instructor’s instructions.
If the level doesn’t match
We’ll find the right group together
On group courses, if we don’t know you yet, we can suggest an introductory private lesson first: that way you join the right group from day one.
People move between groups during the course too, so everyone ends up where they feel best. And for children who have never had skis or a board on, the way in is a private lesson.

Kids’ group lessons
Ages 6 to 13-14 with some experience: groups by age and level

Three hours on one theme if you’re intermediate or advanced; Starting from zero if you’re new
