Rider in a red jacket riding fresh powder down a wide off-piste slope, throwing up a cloud of snow

Freeride

Off-piste in the Vialattea with an instructor, on slopes chosen for the day.

We use the lifts to reach the off-piste, and your instructor picks where to ride from the conditions of the day. These outings aren’t planned in advance: we announce them during the season, right after a snowfall.

Weather-window outings

Freeride isn’t planned in advance: we announce outings during the season, right after a snowfall, sometimes only a few hours ahead. The dates go up on Bee Bee Board; if you want to know straight away, we’ll let you know on WhatsApp.

Off-piste equipment

For every off-piste outing.

  • Avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe

    Compulsory: you bring your own.

  • Airbag backpack

    Recommended.

  • Hire

If you don’t have the kit, our office will tell you where to hire it.

Dates and signing up

  • Dates and booking

Outings go up on Bee Bee Board right after a snowfall: that’s where you see them and book them.

  • Level

You need an intermediate or advanced level.

  • Meeting point

The Tappeto Jolly magic carpet, at the bottom of the Sestriere lifts.

  • Minimum 3 people

If we don’t reach it, we let you know 72 hours ahead and offer you an alternative of the same value: another date, a different length, or an equivalent private lesson.

Before you sign up

The early-bird rate. It isn’t refundable, because the discount is tied to booking early. If you can’t come, you can move your booking to another date on the calendar and keep the rate. If we’re the ones who don’t confirm the outing, you get a full refund. The refund minus the 10% charge applies instead to lessons booked at the full rate and cancelled within the terms.

Off-piste. Off-piste outings take place outside the ski area, on ungroomed terrain that rescue vehicles struggle to reach. Carrying avalanche safety equipment (shovel, transceiver and probe) is compulsory by law.

Your level. If you’re not sure whether you’re intermediate or advanced, have a look at the Ski and snowboard levels page.

The other experiences. Discover the area, freeride, ski touring and splitboard are all on the Experiences page.

All the prices for the season are in Prices; cancellations, minimum numbers and the other conditions are in the Terms and conditions.

Where the dates are. You’ll find the active dates, and book them, on Bee Bee Board: this site has no calendar. That’s where the FAQs below point too.

Frequently asked questions

What are Experiences and Clinics?

Experiences and Clinics are fixed-date group lessons, open to anyone who signs up: you don’t need to arrive with a group of your own. Clinics focus on one specific technical theme and last 3 hours; Experiences are more about the experience itself and discovering the area, and last 4.5 hours or a full day. Check the calendar on the site for the dates that are open.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Lessons go ahead in bad weather too: snowfall, wind and fog are conditions to expect when you spend time in the mountains. A lesson is only cancelled and refunded if the lifts close.
